Finland so fabulous and captivating!!

Finland is a country so clean calm and gorgeous. And also this is the country which has most number of lakes in the world, precisely 187888.

We went to Helsinki the capital of Finland and spent two days there. Unfortunately that’s all the time we got and couldn’t explore Finland on the whole, but we did go visit most of the places in Helsinki.

We went to Helsinki from Tallinn and from my last post you would have got to know that it was a cruise trip.

Once in Helsinki we bought Helsinki cards like how we did in Tallinn. These cards helped us with free entry to a lot of places.

So the first thing we did in Helsinki was to watch a 4D cinema. They had few options and we opted for Finland 4D cinema. I should say it was different, enjoyable and informative.

Just opposite to the flying cinema we had the city’s sky wheel and so we had to leap on it.😄

This place also holds another fond memory for me apart from the sky wheel.

I also got to witness my first ever snow fall. And it was breathtaking. And I wanted to have it all for myself.

But it stopped in few mins so we took the sky wheel tour and left to Helsinki Cathedral. This church was built as a tribute to the Grand Duke of Finland.

The church itself was very subtle and beautiful. The colours on it were pastel and it literally looked like a piece of cake so cute wanting to eat yet not wanting to eat.

Then we went to the market square through the city and everything about the city is beautiful. It felt like walking Inside of some movie.

The Market Square is a central square in Helsinki, Finland.Walking through the city and taking in the view we reached the Market square.

This place had a lot of small shops with street foods with a variety of meat. In Finland reindeer meat is famous so we tired that. Since we were there in the month of October they were making arrangements for the Christmas market. This made the place look lit by evening.

The very same day we visited Uspenski Cathedral, an Eastern Orthodox cathedral in Helsinki and main cathedral of the Orthodox Church of Finland.

And we had to walk through a small bridge to get there. Even that had so much beauty. The whole city looked sculpted and marvellous.

The next day we went to Suomenlinna it is an 18th-century sea fortress and nature area with centuries-old artillery and defensive walls, spread across 6 linked islands. It’s vast and time consuming. You also have to walk around a lot but all the walking is worth it. Also to get to Suomenlinna you have to book a ferry ride.

This place is an abandoned ship making base. This place still holds all the leftovers machinery scraps.

There is also a submarine. The Submarine Vesikko lets visitors explore a restored 1930s vessel.

Every place in there was unique. Everything had something nice about it.

Be it the cathedral, the tunnels or the houses all of it made the place worth visiting.

1960 and 2020. It’s still the same. Everything is so untouched. Perfectly a heritage site.

Helsinki,Finland has my heart. Anytime anyday I would love to go back.

Shino’s tips on this trip:

* Do purchase a Helsinki card. You can refer my previous post for it’s uses.

*Finland needs a minimum of 5 days. Since it has a lot to explore.

*When in Finland don’t miss the Santa claus village – Rovaniemi. (Unfortunately we missed it due to the hectic 3 days schedule 😉).

*If you are a fan of Northern lights (Aurora borealis) then plan your trip during winter.

SHINO’S LIMERICK:

Alluring Finland
Is like a fantasy land
Every view
Is so new
Now easy to know
